Book Review-The Power of Positive Thinking

Book Review-The Power of Positive Thinking

The Power of Positive Thinking
by Norman Vincent Peale

This is one of the true classics in mind power literature. I resisted reading this book for many years, and when I finally did, was blown away by the wisdom in it. The author gives succinct, practical advice on how to deal with many of our daily problems, from self-worth to releasing worry.

Well versed in the concept of the subconscious mind, Dr. Peale explains how to use prayer, affirmations and visualization for best effect. Drawing on the Bible for much of his teaching, he uses Bible verses for affirmations and constructive thinking.

Although this book was written by a Christian minister, it is useful to all philosophies because its principles go beyond religious barriers. Filled with stories and examples, this book is enjoyable to read and will fill the reader with inspiration, confidence and faith.

Your good is always in potential, waiting for you to become aware of it. It never goes away. Even in the worst of situations, Universal Good is present for you. Once you recognize it’s available to you, you provide the channel for it to flow through into your life. And like any skill, the more you practice shifting your attention to your good, the more it becomes a habit for you to do so.

Who am I saying affirmations to?

Who am I saying affirmations to?

Question MarkQuestion: When I look into a mirror to say affirmations, am I saying them to my soul or God?

Answer: They say that the eyes are the mirror to the soul. When you’re looking into your own eyes in a mirror while you’re saying an affirmation, you’re looking into your soul and putting a lot more energy into the statement.

You don’t have to tell God that you’re desiring anything, because God knows your desires before you do, and has already given it to you. You are simply affirming what is true on a spiritual level.

When you say an affirmation, you’re using it to change your mind and accept your desire. It’s a way of raising your consciousness to realize that what you desire is already yours and that you deserve it.

Book Review-The Holographic Universe

Book Review-The Holographic Universe

The Holographic Universe: The Revolutionary Theory of Reality
by Michael Talbot

Like myself, many of you have seen the movie, “What The Bleep Do We Know?” If you found this movie to be as mind altering as I did, then you’ll find “The Holographic Universe” to be equally amazing.

This book goes into great detail to explain and show that we all create our own reality, and that we have the ability to create any reality that we want. Do you want to develop psychic abilities, improve your health or have more wealth? Then read this book.

Mr. Talbot tells how the universe is like a giant hologram, and that matter and consciousness work together to create and alter that hologram. He backs up his statements with fascinating information from various studies done by scientist from around the world.

When I started reading this book I couldn’t go through it fast enough. It answered questions about life and the universe that I’d had for years by combining what sounded like fanciful New Age ideas with hard scientific fact. Merging these seemingly opposite ideas created a unified explanation of existence that showed that the universe is indeed our playground.

So if you’re looking for an explanation of how the universe works, and where you fit into it, then read “The Holographic Universe.” Open yourself to its ideas and it will truly change your life for the better.

How can I increase the power of my affirmations?

How can I increase the power of my affirmations?

Question MarkQuestion: How can I increase the power of my affirmations?

Answer: There are a couple of things to do to increase the power of affirmations that have been used. The first would be to actually affirm the affirmation. It sounds odd, but you would affirm that the original affirmations are actually in Universal Mind and your creative mind, that they’re already working even if you don’t know how it’s happening or how it could manifest.

Affirming that you know that it’s being done, or affirming that you trust your subconscious to take what you’ve impressed on it and bring it into manifestation. What you’re doing is increasing your belief in the affirmation actually working. And you can also just affirm that the affirmations are increasing in power each time you say them.

Another thing you can do is to back off of stating affirmations for specific things. Instead, use affirmations that increase your general acceptance of all things good. Although specific affirmations bring specific results, sometimes we get too tense about the specifics, and try to will them into being. This just blocks the ability of the subconscious to manifest. All the energy is going into the willpower and trying to control the manifestation.

By backing away, and just beginning to affirm a greater acceptance of all good, it begins to broaden the scope of your consciousness and opens it to a greater range of good. Something like: “All the good of the Universe is already mine. I’m allowing myself to experience more of all the good that there is in all areas of my life.”

Also, whenever you think of the issue you’re affirming, remind yourself that your affirmation has already taken care of it. This gives the affirmation more power. Remember that the more you wonder when, why or how it’ll be done, that siphons energy away from manifesting the affirmation. It’s not easy, but each time you use an affirmation, have the attitude that it is now done, even if you can’t see any evidence of it at that time.

How Can I Use Affirmations to Improve a Situation?

How Can I Use Affirmations to Improve a Situation?

Question MarkQuestion: I’ve been affirming to improve a situation, but nothing has changed. What else can I do?

Answer: Review how you’re using the affirmation. As we use affirmations, we may start repeating them by rote, without thinking about what they mean, and because we do, they lose their punch. Remember that an affirmation only changes your mind about the situation, to accept more good in that area. And they have to be said with emotion and belief that they’re actually manifesting.

If we say the affirmation, but negate it during the day, or we say it and feel that it’s not working, then the subconscious mind will manifest our accumulated feeling about the situation. So make sure that your feelings that it’s being done are in alignment with the affirmation.

Also, a problem can’t be healed from the consciousness that created it or is experiencing the problem. You need to be able to raise your awareness above or beyond the level of the challenge to imagine the solution, or at least imagine that there is a resolution available. If you’re still thinking of the problem as you say the affirmation, or feeling the tension it creates, then that will block any positive change. Affirm and think of it from the position of the answer or resolution.

Book Review-30-Day Mental Diet

Book Review-30-Day Mental Diet

Thirty-Day Mental Diet: The Way to a Better Life
by Willis Kinnear

It’s nice to establish a more positive mental attitude. But it’s sometimes difficult to discipline yourself to keep your thoughts on a higher plane. That’s where this book can help.

The author calls this a “mental diet” because you’re choosing what to put into your mind, just as a food diet relates to what you put into your body.

I’ve followed this “mental diet” for the prescribed time, and I found that my attitude improved, things flowed more smoothly, and I felt much more grounded spiritually. Each day builds on the information of the day before, so your spiritual understanding gets deeper as the month progresses.

Each day begins with an exploration of that day’s idea, followed by some quotes related to the topic. The diet is a meditation related to the idea, and then a short statement encapsulating the meditation. It takes less than ten minutes to read, and it is food for your soul.

This book gives you the focus you need to think more clearly about the Universe and your place in It.
