The Universe Supports You, Part 2

The Universe Supports You, Part 2

by Linda-Ann Stewart

I had a friend who’d been feeling sorry for himself because he hadn’t been receiving invitations to social gatherings. One night, he got angry, and stomped around his apartment stating that he was tired of this, and that from now on he wanted to be invited to go with friends to parties, movies, etc. The next day, he had more invitations than he could accept. He’d focused his energy on what he wanted and accomplished his desire.

Fear usually prevents us from charging confidently forward. Fear that what we want won’t manifest, so we protect ourselves by not putting forth all the energy necessary. Or fear that it will happen, and we don’t feel like we can deal with the responsibility. Remember, though, the Universe won’t force us to handle more than we’re willing to. You won’t be forced to accept change.

One thing had changed before I gave this successful mini-class. An office-mate had moved out and had taken much of the furniture in the office with her. This made the reception area, where I hold my meetings, much larger. Before she moved, I couldn’t fit more than fifteen people into the space. With the extra room, I was able to put out twenty-eight chairs and the Universe made sure they were filled. Not only had I expanded my consciousness, but the available space had expanded to accommodate more people as well.

The Universe Supports You, Part 1

The Universe Supports You, Part 1

by Linda-Ann Stewart

A few years ago, I was going to present a free mini-class on hypnosis. I did this several times a year. Generally, I had between two and eight people attend. The most I’d ever had sign up had been fourteen. A few weeks prior to the mini-class I had started using an affirmation that “Spirit completely supports me in my endeavors.”

Although I hadn’t done anything differently to promote the mini-class this time, I had thirty people sign up for it, and twenty-two people actually attend. I hadn’t been focusing specifically on the mini-class when I’d said the affirmation, but the Universe still supported me.

The Universe completely fulfills whatever you are envisioning for yourself. If you want a new job, but you’re afraid to leave your present one, you won’t see any change because the strongest emotional idea will be what the Universe supports.

The Universe wants the best for you, whatever that is, but It can’t force you to accept it. You have to give the Infinite Good some idea of what you want. You don’t have to know how it can happen. All you have to do is take the steps you are guided to take. If that means submitting your resume, applying for jobs, and going for interviews, then that’s what you do.

In taking all the action you know to do, you convince your subconscious mind that you want your goal. The action you take is energy. As you focus that energy through the vision of what you want, and fill it with the knowledge that the Universe is delivering it, then you’ll receive that or better. This helps to change your consciousness toward your desire.

But you must take ALL the action you know to take, even if some part of it makes you uncomfortable. Holding back any energy will signal the subconscious that you’re not really ready for your goal. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve put energy forth for something I wanted, but didn’t completely follow through and never achieved my goal.

Book Review-You Can Have It All

Book Review-You Can Have It All

You Can Have It All:
A Simple Guide to a Joyful and Abundant Life

by Arnold M. Patent

This book explains Universal principles in a very basic and understandable way. Although I’d deeply been immersed in metaphysics for years, it wasn’t until I read the chapter on “Details,” that I finally grasped how it’s not up to me to figure out how things need to happen. It’s the Universe’s job to determine that. This concept was explained in just the right way for me to finally get it. When I did, it seemed that all I’d learned about this idea fell into place.

This is just one of the fundamental principles of metaphysics that the author explains. There are some exercises to help define your purpose, discovering what you love, acceptance of feelings, and more. While it’s written to explain the principles very simply, at the same time it goes very deeply into mental laws. This is a book to take your time to read, absorbing each chapter before going onto the next.

Do you need a plan or let the subconscious work out the best way?

Do you need a plan or let the subconscious work out the best way?

Question: I was wondering whether you need to have a plan to achieve a goal or whether you should let the subconscious mind work out the best way?

Answer: It is important to have a goal, and then steps to take on the way to the goal. But it’s also important to not “outline” how the goal is going to manifest. It’s a tightrope to walk. For instance, suppose you want a new job. You know the steps to take. You look at the job listings, you send out resumes, you go for interviews. The more action you take in the physical world helps the subconscious to know what it is that you want, and how committed you are to the goal.

If you focus on the new job coming from one of those that you investigated, that’s “outlining.” You’ve decided “how” it has to happen, instead of letting the subconscious mind figure out how. Or suppose you see a job that you really want, and set your heart on “that job.” Your new job may come when you feel led to go into a market and bump into a friend or former coworker who gives you a lead. You follow any inspiration you might have because that’s the inner mind directing you.

If you try to control the result or outcome, that’s when you run afoul of life. Having a plan lets the inner mind know what you want, but if you try to force the goal to manifest in the way you want to, you’ll not get very far. The inner mind knows so much more than you do about the situation. As you follow your plan, you stay aware of any nudges from the inner mind.

Your job is to remain focused on your goal, move in that direction, but let your inner mind power it. Just like driving a car. You keep your vision down the road, you steer the vehicle, but the motor is what moves the car. You don’t have to do a Fred Flintstone, and run or push the car.

Book Review – Open Your Mind To Receive

Book Review – Open Your Mind To Receive

Open Your Mind To Receive
By Catherine Ponder

This is one of my favorite books by this author. It’s a small tome, but packed with great ideas. The whole premise is stated in the title. Most of us have closed ideas of the amount of good we can accept.

This book instructs the reader to open their mind to accept more of the goodness of the Universe. Though Ms. Ponder mainly addresses the issue of abundance or prosperity, these ideas can be used for other challenges as well.

It was in this book that she introduced me to the concept of of releasing a person as a way of forgiving them, since she states that the word “forgive” means to “give up.” This has helped me to let go of people that I haven’t been quite able to forgive.

She also addresses the idea of accepting “nothing but the best.” Most of us have settled for something less, so this concept is one that we need to envision for ourselves.

As is usual in her books, this one is filled with great affirmations and examples. It’s a wonderful, easy, interesting read, and I recommend it highly.

Why do you get mis-messages as you’re waiting to manifest your desire?

Why do you get mis-messages as you’re waiting to manifest your desire?

Question: While an affirmation is beginning to manifest, why is it that you’ll get some mis-messages or dead ends as if your creative mind is trying out different situations as it works to manifest what you want?

Answer: Many people think that if an affirmation doesn’t manifest completely, it means that something is wrong. That’s not necessarily true. Many times, you just have to keep on keeping on with the affirmation and stay focused.

If you change your desire, then it confuses the subconscious, which then has to focus its energy on the new idea. Or if you vacillate back and forth between two desires, the subconscious begins to feel like its in a ping-pong match.

Most people have done this, including me. Also, we tend to then criticize ourselves and the subconscious for not having “gotten it right” (At least, I have), which then tells the inner mind to not “get it right.”

I now call the part-manifestation “an indication.” To me, it indicates that the affirmation is working, but the subconscious just hasn’t gotten it quite right and needs a little more time, and maybe a little more direction or specificity.

Reclaim Your Power From Anger, Part 1

Reclaim Your Power From Anger, Part 1

by Linda-Ann Stewart

Hallie prided herself on holding grudges. She never forgave anyone for any real or imagined slight. Once someone had offended her, she’d cut them out of her life. This attitude caused her to be exhausted, and negatively affected her health and her relationships.

Anger is a survival instinct that lets you know that some right has been violated. When you get angry with someone, it provides protection so that the other person will think twice about acting like that again. Once the situation has been dealt with, it has fulfilled its purpose and anger fades away.

However, if you continue to hold onto your anger, like Hallie, you’re trying to protect yourself against a threat that no longer exists. Anger then twists into hostility, a bubbling cauldron of antagonism. Studies have shown that hostility depresses the immune system and harms cardiovascular function.

Antagonism ties up energy that could be used for something productive. This affects you physically with increased stress, tense muscles, an upset stomach, and shallow breathing. It also ruins relationships and contributes to the self-destructive habits of smoking, drinking, overeating, and others.

Anger is energy. As long as it’s moving and released, it can actually help make constructive changes. But if it gets stuck, it turns to hostility and becomes a black hole that sucks in more energy. “Energy flows where attention goes.” When you’re focused on holding onto anger, it diverts energy from manifesting good. The Law of Attraction causes it to draw more disharmony and frustration to you.

When you’re angry, your mind functions at much less than your normal potential. Chronic anger greatly reduces your ability to think, make decisions and tap into creativity.

If you hold a grudge, like Hallie, you’re trying to control a situation that’s in the past. It’s a reaction against feeling helpless, but it keeps you in a victim cycle. You’re letting the past rule how you feel and act. You might think it makes you stronger and more powerful than the other person. Instead, you’ve just handed control of your emotions over to them.

They may no longer even think of you, but they’re still very much a part of your thoughts. Maybe you’re trying to punish them. But you’re not hurting them at all. The only person it’s harming is you. You may think that you’re protecting yourself, but you’re actually keeping yourself immobile, unable to learn from a situation and move forward.

As long as you continue to be angry, you’re holding that person and situation to you like glue. The relationship or situation isn’t over for you. Every time you think of it, your subconscious thinks it’s happening all over again and it revs up your anger all over again.

Book Review – “Beyond Positive Thinking”

Book Review – “Beyond Positive Thinking”

“Beyond Positive Thinking: A No-Nonsense Formula For Getting The Results You Want”
by Dr. Robert Anthony

This book is a step-by-step process for “right thinking” rather than “positive thinking.” It doesn’t pull any punches regarding why you do the things you do that sabotage your goals. And it specifically tells you what to do about them, so you can achieve your dreams.

This is a users manual for the Law of Attraction. Beginning with the basics of self-esteem, it dives deeply into all the aspects of what could block you from your desires. It addresses the obstacles you encounter and suggests solutions for them.

This is one of the best books I’ve found that explains how to go about creating the life you want. It doesn’t just give you steps to follow, but instructs you on strategies and time-tested techniques. It explains how to use affirmations, intentions, visualization and more.

It’s written in a very clear and understandable manner, directly addressing what to do and why. It’s tightly packed with information, explanations and exercises to change your thoughts and reframe your beliefs.

You’ll need to read this book over and over again, because you won’t be able to absorb all of it in a single reading. If you want to change your mind to change your life, read this book.
