You filter every situation through your beliefs and attitudes. What annoys you, another person could simply ignore. It all comes down to how you perceive what’s going on. You then react to it according to how you’ve labeled it – either good or bad. But it just is. Your distress is due to how you think it may affect you. And your negative reaction could cause it to impact you unpleasantly. Fortunately, you have the power to take a step back and assess the situation differently, even if it’s simply to be neutral about it.
