I’ve worked with visualization and imaging for over forty years, and in that time have read many books on the subject. This is one of the best books I’ve read that not only describes the process, but also explains how it can specifically help in various aspect of your life.
Dr. Peale doesn’t define imaging as a magical process that alone will make all your problems disappear, but as one that opens up the way for solutions and guidance. Once the goal has been set and visualized, then there must be “discipline, determination, patience, and persistence” for the idea to become reality. Using examples and success stories, Dr. Peale explains how imaging can improve self-esteem, finances, success, worry, relationships, health, faith and much more.
Known for his wisdom and ability, Dr. Peale helps people change their attitudes towards their everyday problems. This book shows how using the natural ability of imaging, your challenges can be conquered. The technique he describes is very simple, and is used by everyone each day. I recommend it highly for anyone wanting to learn more about the important tool of visualization.

Your self-image affects everything about you and your life. The way you perceive yourself filters how you view and respond to the world. It’s built of beliefs, and beliefs can be changed. Watch and listen to this short meditation that will help you start to shift how you think about yourself so that it’s more positive.
Your self-image is how you perceive yourself to be. And it affects your decisions, actions, attitudes and relationships. Your self-image is the filter for who you think you are and how you respond to situations around you. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that you make true. But you can also change it because it’s build of beliefs. And beliefs can be changed. Here’s a short meditation to get you started.
If you want, close your eyes. Take a deep breath, let it out, and relax.
Consider what is right about you. Think of the things you’ve done that have been right and good. Reflect on what’s good, valuable and worthwhile about you. Contemplate what you like about yourself – your appearance, talents, characteristics. People view you as a good person. Think of all the compliments you’ve ever been given. Accept them. Allow yourself to feel the warmth of their glow. Now, consider the person you want to be. What do you need to believe to be that person? What if you start believing it now? What would change? You can start making those changes right now. How would that feel?
Open your eyes. When your negative self-talk starts to bring you down, shift your attention to what’s positive about you. This will help to improve your self-image and will make massive changes in your world.

Question: How often should I use an affirmation to heal a chronic condition?
Answer: For any chronic condition, including physical healing, it’s recommended that a person spend ten to fifteen minutes, three times a day in dynamic meditation (using affirmations, imagery and/or visualization) or self-hypnosis (using suggestions, imagery and/or visualization). That’s to flood their subconscious with health or improvement messages. A person should use any statement or visualization that has meaning for them, because it’s their feelings and beliefs about the situation that they’re working on.
According to Catherine Ponder, a minister and writer of books on prosperity and healing, an affirmation about a single issue needs to be stated aloud for at least fifteen minutes every day. She said that she’d never seen a situation improve with less than that. Once it’s changed, I believe that five minutes a day would probably be enough to keep it stable.
Question: When I imagine something in the alpha level, how does it happen in reality?
Answer: The alpha level is the state we access in meditation, self-hypnosis, daydreaming or as we’re drifting off to sleep. We’re more inwardly focused on some idea in this state. When you imagine something in the alpha level, you’re giving the subconscious mind specific directions of what you want. The subconscious must accept what you’re impressing, which it always does. EXCEPT, if you negate it with opposite statements during the day, confuse it with a different desire, or not trust it to do what you have stated.
Then, since we’re all connected, once the subconscious has accepted the idea, it then seeks out opportunities to bring it about. Have you ever had the impulse to go to a certain store, only to bump into someone you really needed to talk to?
When you place a desire in mind, trusting the subconscious to manifest it, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several months for it to come about. When it’s delayed, it’s usually because you have a belief that’s restricting it, or aren’t trusting the subconscious enough. It won’t do anything if you don’t trust it. Start with some small desires to build your faith.
