Sparks of InsightWhen you have something challenging happen in your life, bless the situation. It may not be the way you’d want it to appear, but if you curse it or resist it, you’ll just give it more energy to get worse. Instead, if you affirm that somehow, someway, something wonderful will come out of the situation for you, you’re directing your subconscious mind to put its juices to work to create something even better than you could have imagined.

Who answers my prayer?

Question about affirmationsQuestion: Is my soul giving me the answer to my prayer?

Answer: Your soul is not what is giving you your desire, the Universe is. The Universe the power within you. Universe (or whatever your term for god is) has all the good you want in potential for you. It won’t be given to you until you accept it, on every level of your being.

The soul (your subconscious/creative mind) is the interface between your conscious mind and conscious desire and the Universal givingness. The soul (your subconscious) has been programmed to limit your acceptance. It’s been programmed from birth, and it filters out much of the Universal good because of what you’ve been taught to believe. Only when you’re able to reprogram it to believe and accept more, will you receive it from the Universe.

Sparks of Insight“There is nothing good nor bad, but thinking makes it so.” – Shakespeare

The Universe is all good, but the way you perceive circumstances labels them either good or bad. Then, once you’ve labeled them, the subconscious goes to work to make that true for you. It’s only doing what it thinks you want it to do. If you label something good, it will work to bring good about. If you label it bad, then it makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy. Even if something seems to be awful, create the mindset that something good will come from it. That gives the subconscious the direction to derive something that’s beneficial.

Sparks of Insight“I expect wonderful things to happen today. My attitude of expectancy opens doors for me. It releases the Power of the Universe that creates good.”

Expecting the best gives the subconscious direction to find and create the good that’s already available in potential from the Universe. Tuning into it is like turning the channel of your television. The channel you’re seeking is always broadcasting, you just need to find its signal.

New Age Hypnosis
by Bruce Goldberg

Although this book doesn’t go into great depth explaining hypnosis, it does give some great information and principles about the process that most books on this subject don’t cover. It’s a very clear examination of hypnosis and this state of mind.

Dispelling misconceptions, it explains how it’s a natural process. It also addresses topics that other mainstream books on hypnosis don’t even mention, such as karma, the Superconscious mind, self-sabotage, masters and guides, akashic records, angels and much more.

This book is a goldmine of scripts for making your own recordings. You can simply read from the book and make a recording to explore a past life, future life, contact your Superconscious mind and more. If you are interested in tapping into the power of your mind, this book is a must for your library.

Sparks of InsightTry changing the pronoun of your affirmation from “I” to “You” or “Your Name.” You respond differently when someone else encourages you. You feel believed in, validated, appreciated. In doing so, you actually become your own coach. The third person, “Your Name,” helps by being from some neutral party. It’s more objective and detached, therefore connects with the mind on a different level.

Sparks of Insight“Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out.” ~ Art Linkletter

This is a gentle way of saying “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” Successful people find opportunities in difficulties, and many times, these become their greatest achievements. Challenges abound, and are a way to make us grow and expand. When a challenge comes your way, make the best of it. In so doing, you’re giving your subconscious the direction to become more resourceful at attracting Universal good.

Still not believing my affirmations

Question about affirmationsQuestion: Is this normal to be listening to and repeating affirmations for a year and still not completely believe them?

Answer: It’s fairly normal for it to take some time to turn things around. It’s different with everybody. Some get involved with a group of people of like mind, or a great teacher, and are able to make a significant change quickly. That’s not very common, though.

Remember, you’ve been heading in one direction for most, if not all, your life, with a pattern of thinking. I liken it to sailing in a sailboat. You’re headed in one direction, and now want to go in the opposite direction. You can’t just flip the sails around or you’ll capsize. You have to move them incrementally. It takes time.

And your subconscious acts on the overall quality of your thoughts. If you’ve been thinking negatively for a long period, it takes a while, and a lot of belief, to change that. You can use affirmations to increase your belief, which might be the best thing to focus on for a while. That there is good in the world, you deserve it, and work on a smaller goal at first. As you succeed at that, you can proceed to larger goals.

Your emotional belief and trust in the Universe and your subconscious mind is what powers your affirmations. You/we all receive what we expect, in our deepest being, that we’re going to get. If we truly believe that nothing will change, no matter what affirmations we say, guess what? It doesn’t. The subconscious manifests the average of what we think about.

You’re learning a new skill, and like all new abilities, it takes time, perseverance and practice to get better at it.

Believe You Can and You’re Right

Marie went in to interview for a job she was fully qualified for. But she’d had several recent interviews, and hadn’t received an offer from any of them. As a result, she didn’t have the best attitude going into this situation. When she didn’t get the position, she said, “I knew it. I didn’t think I was going to get it.” Unfortunately, she got what she expected. Her belief became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The attitude you have when you approach a challenge, or a change, greatly determines your outcome. Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you’re right.” Your belief will affect your actions and the way you project yourself. If you don’t think you’ll be successful in a venture, you won’t give it 100% of your effort. You might think you do, but part of your energy will be held back to deal with potential disappointment.

Think about a recent goal you had. Did you believe that you could achieve it? What was your attitude towards it? You may have spent lots of time and action to move it in a positive direction. But if you didn’t believe that you would be successful, guess what? It would be unlikely that you could achieve your goal.

I’ve worked with hundreds of smokers in my practice and classes. If they repeat to themselves, “I can’t quit,” then it will be practically impossible for them to quit. When the smoker changes their attitude to “I can quit,” their subconscious works with them to make it possible. Until then, no matter what tools and techniques they use, they’ll be fighting against themselves and the directives they’ve been giving their inner mind. Your subconscious seeks to prove your belief is correct.

Your subconscious must act on what you tell it. If you want a new direction in your life, or to accomplish a goal, first you have to believe that it’s possible. Your subconscious will take its cue from where you focus your attention. Taking action without believing that you can be successful undermines your abilities and determination. You might make progress, but it’ll be a hard road with few rewards in comparison to the amount of labor you’ve put into it.

If you’re thinking, “This is never going to work,” then your subconscious will follow your direction. Not only that, if opportunities do come your way, you won’t be aware of them. Your subconscious will filter them out of your consciousness. It will be as if they don’t exist. Either you won’t recognize them or you’ll dismiss them. Your subconscious mind has to be congruent with your beliefs.

However, if you decide, “This has a good possibility of being successful, and I’ll do everything I can to accomplish it,” your subconscious will help you. For instance, when you’re choosing to change a habit, your inner mind will be in alignment with your goal and make it easier. If you’re working on a project, opportunities and information may drop into your lap.

What if you want to improve a corner of your life, but aren’t sure you will be able to believe you can accomplish it? Are you doomed to failure? Not necessarily. The more difficult you believe a goal will be to attain, the more commitment you have to bring to it as you work towards the goal. Your attitude needs to at least entertain the possibility that you can be successful.

Then you need to put more effort into the steps that will bring it to fruition. An abundance teacher says that the further away from Source you feel you are, the more action you have to take in the physical world.

Make sure your attitude isn’t one of “Just going through the motions,” because that will short-circuit your efforts. Take small steps, and praise yourself when you successfully complete each one. Your activity and dedication will impress your subconscious with the importance of your goal.

You may take two steps forward and one back, but you will start to make progress. And as you recognize the positive results of your efforts, and begin to believe that it is possible, your progress will accelerate.

Combining a positive attitude with being willing to do whatever is necessary to succeed is an unbeatable recipe for success. When you believe you can, your subconscious will help you to be right.

Affirmation:
If I can believe it, I can achieve it. The power of the Universe is at my command when I decide to commit to an intention. I realize that when I believe I can accomplish it, my subconscious seeks to prove me right. The Universe and my subconscious mind know how to bring about my intention, in a way that resonates with me. As I pair action with my belief that I can succeed, the Universe supports my every effort.

Why do I get drowsy with affirmation recording?

Question about affirmationsQuestion: I’ve created my own affirmation recording, with the statements delivered quickly in a monotone, and then I repeat them. With the pace being so fast, why do I get drowsy when I listen to it?

Answer: If you’re saying them in a droning voice, you could actually be putting yourself into a mild hypnotic state by the tone and way you say them. Also, anything you do often, by routine, and don’t think much about, will do that. In that state, the subconscious is actually more receptive to the statements.

Also, it could be that the statements are delivered too fast. If there’s little space between the statements, your mind could be getting overloaded with the data and will start to shut down to try to process it. It’s like you’re eating too fast and your mind can’t digest what’s being said. You need time to wrap your mind around what they say, mean, and feel their accomplishment. Your feeling is what will power them.
