Sparks of InsightSome people feel that they’re lying when they’re affirming something that isn’t actually in their life. When you’re affirming something new to come into your life, you’re giving the subconscious the direction of where you want it to go. Just as you wouldn’t feel you were lying if you said, “I’m going on vacation,” before you made plans for it, you’re not lying when you choose a new course for your life. You may not know how to get there, but your subconscious does. Affirm your direction and follow any leads that come to you.

succcess-goldkey_84055-smI’m sure you’ve heard the computer adage, “Garbage in, garbage out.” This means that the machine will operate on whatever data you program into it, whether it’s good or bad, correct or incorrect. The computer will use that information and your result will be based on it. If it’s valid and accurate information, you’ll get a correct outcome. However, if you’ve entered bad data, it will give you a flawed product. It all depends on what the operator (you) feeds into the computer.

The same can be said of your mind. Your mind operates on the ideas you load into it, from the past or present. If you are functioning on false information, you’re going to get outcomes you don’t want. Unless your mental programming supports your goals, vision and dreams, you’re going to undermine your success. Because the Law of Attraction acts on that information, drawing to you want you’ve accepted as true.

The good news is that you can change your programming. You’re always reinforcing commands in your mind by the beliefs you’ve accepted, the attitudes you’ve developed and the statements you say to yourself each day. Your subconscious (your mental computer) and the Law of Attraction act on your beliefs and bring them into a reality in your life. But your subconscious and the Law of Attraction must follow what your conscious mind decides. When your conscious mind makes a new choice and follows through on it, your subconscious and the Law of Attraction must comply and attract the equivalent.

Follow these steps to program yourself for success:

1. Change your beliefs. Are you programming yourself for what you want or what you don’t want? If you aren’t getting the results you want, assess what your beliefs about it might be. You can change your beliefs, because they’re only ideas that you’ve focused on so long that they’ve gotten to be habits. And you know you can change a habit, right? What belief do you need to have to get the outcome you want?

2. Use auto-suggestion. Every day, you’re giving yourself suggestions that impress your subconscious mind and the Law of Attraction. It They then seeks out opportunities to make the suggestions true. Once you’ve recognized what belief you need to have, write an auto-suggestion for it, in the second or third person positive. Such as an old favorite, “Every day, in every way, you’re getting better and better.” Or, “Every day, in every way, [your name] is getting better and better.” Repeat your statement out loud for a minimum of 5 minutes every day. Or repeat it to yourself as you’re going to sleep at night. Or both.

3. Use visualization. Many people think that visualization is like seeing something on a movie screen. That’s a fallacy. Imagine what your living room looks like. That’s the way you’ll experience visualization. Imagine your acting on any steps towards your goal or dream. This is like a mental rehearsal and imprints your desires on your subconscious and Law of Attraction. Then imagine that your goal or dream is accomplished and how it makes you feel. You can do this at the same time as you’re using auto-suggestion. It instructs your subconscious mind and Law of Attraction to find ways to fulfill your desires.

4. Focus on your vision.
Keep your attention on your intention. When you do, your actions will follow. And this helps you avoid getting distracted. If you do find yourself getting sidetracked, just get refocused and keep moving. Setbacks are normal. Don’t get discouraged. They give you valuable feedback on what you need to do to correct your course and keep moving forward.

Reprogramming your mind takes commitment and persistence. You’re having to change the course of the stream of your thoughts. You’ll have to move rocks (beliefs) and earth (thoughts) to metaphorically create a new channel. But it can be done as long as you’re determined to succeed.

Affirmation:

The Universe completely supports my endeavors, wanting me to have the best. I accept that I deserve the best and have the ability to create it through the power of my Higher Mind. By keeping my mind focused on my dream and desire, I provide the channel through which the Universe sends my good to me.

Should I uncover blocks before writing goals?

Question about affirmationsQuestion: Should I uncover the hidden beliefs that are blocking me before I write my affirmations about my goals?

Answer: It’s not necessary to uncover the conflicts or hidden beliefs before moving forward. Many times, all that is needed is the conscious mind’s focus and commitment to the goal to convince the subconscious to let go of its old beliefs.

However, if, no matter what you do consciously, the subconscious still sabotages you, you can actually create an affirmation stating the “hidden beliefs are now revealed.” Affirmations declaring that you now have clarity, that the old beliefs are now made apparent to the conscious mind, that you now know what has been creating the resistance, or statements that address your situation will start cleaning the window of your mind so you can see what’s going on.

Sometimes the belief is something that you’ve known just below conscious awareness, or it’s something that you’ve taken for granted. But you may be surprised what pops into your awareness concerning the hidden belief. Then you can write an affirmation to deal with that specific belief.

How can I think positively?

Question about affirmationsQuestion: How can I think positively all the time and get my family to do the same?

Answer: Staying positive all the time is hard for anyone to do. The goal is to think positively and optimistically MOST of the time. It’s also difficult to think positively when you’re surrounded by negative people.

Emile Coue, a pioneer in hypnosis, used an affirmation something like “Negative thoughts and negative suggestions have no effect on any level of my mind.” I usually follow it up with, “I accept only positive thoughts and ideas.”

Although you want your family to be more positive, you can’t make them that way. The only person you can change is yourself. Once you’ve made the change, they may look to you as a role model.

Are you believing the excuses you’re telling yourself? These are the reasons why you aren’t going after what it is you want or taking an action that will move you forward to a goal or dream. You may think that it’s a valid reason, but generally, it’s not. It’s simply a way to keep you in your comfort zone and from doing something that makes you uncomfortable.

I’ve been a hypnotherapist for almost 30 years. Clients came to me to create change in their lives. They might want to stop smoking, lose weight, feel better about themselves, or reduce their stress, and they hadn’t been able to do it on their own. And much of those reasons were because the things that they were telling themselves about it. So one of my tasks was to de-hypnotize them of those incorrect/false beliefs. Think about that. And many of those beliefs were wrapped in excuses. I’d like to touch on how you can stop believing your excuses so you can have a freer, happier and more successful life.

I’m Linda-Ann Stewart, Heartvision Consulting. I’m a vision strategist and help women entrepreneurs align their heart with their vision. As a hypnotherapist and coach, I’ve helped clients achieve their goals. Now, as a vision strategist coach, I help women entrepreneurs who are stuck, scattered and tired of being run ragged by their business to align their heart with their vision, get clear, focused and accelerate their business to the next level.
.
One of the things I do is help them to recognize their excuses and what they’re believing that’s holding them in that self-sabotaging feedback loop. It’s the same type of cycle you get into when you find yourself making excuses why you don’t…. go to the gym, refuse that cookie, make that follow up phone call, finish your project on time, stand up for yourself …. Fill in the blank. Those excuses become self-fulfilling prophecies.

You tell yourself why you can’t do something/aren’t doing it this time. If you keep telling yourself that same idea, it becomes a belief, and then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Without realizing it, you’re making sure that belief becomes true, which just confirms it for you. That’s the feedback loop you have to de-hypnotize yourself from and break.

For instance, I had a client come in to reduce stress. One of her complaints was that she didn’t have enough time and get everything done in her work. That’s a common enough complaint, isn’t it? Do you have it? There’s so much to do that we just run out of time and energy to get it all done, right? And you can’t do anything about that, right? Time is finite, right? Well… that’s a belief. And believing it means that your actions will make it into a reality. Bear with me.

My client and I worked to deal with some of her issues to reduce stress and this was one of the big ones. I gave her the suggestion that she was able to get twice as much done in half the amount of time. A bit of an exaggeration, but… she found that she got creative. She figured out how to ditch some of the things she really didn’t need to be concerned with and how to streamline others. Within a short time, my client was able to get all her work done with time to spare.

What excuses are you turning into beliefs and making real? What are you preventing yourself from having? The mind is very creative when you give it a goal, whether that idea is good, bad or indifferent. Belief becomes a goal. With my client, we just had to de-hypnotize her of the false belief and then get her mind focused on a new idea so it would figure out how to make it real.

For you to overcome your excuses, you have be become aware of them. Notice what you tell yourself whenever you’re avoiding something, or telling yourself “I can’t.” Those are 2 signs of an excuse coming on. Confront and challenge your excuse. Why do you think it’s true? When might it not be true? What can you do to undo it?

These are all things that I help a client with. But you can do it for yourself. When you de-hypnotize yourself of false beliefs, and start to focus on ones you want to be true, you’ll make them real. It takes some dedication, stay focused, but you can do it.
