Are You Being Intentional with Your Goals?

Sales Goals

Sales Goals

Do you take time to think about what you want in life? About 80% of people don’t set goals for themselves. All too often, people don’t really spend time considering what they want. They let the goals choose them by default and simply deal with short term issues. Instead of being proactive, they only react to the most immediate situation. This ensures they dig themselves into a deeper hole than where they started.

What Is Choosing Your Direction?

If you don’t choose what you want in life, someone or something will make the decision for you. It could be an earlier version of you that made a choice that was appropriate at the time. For instance, a younger you needed to to hide your talents to avoid criticism. Do you want those critics to choose your life now?

Or your past thoughts, attitudes or choices set you on a path that you haven’t reassessed. Such as believing that you aren’t worthy of success. If you don’t review and change those outdated ideas regularly, you’ll just fall into your old patterns and drift along. Those outdated remnants will choose your direction for you, without any input from you. They’ll instruct the Law of Attraction to bring you more of what you’ve been experiencing.

Many spiritual people just like to “go with the flow,” but that means that they aren’t being intentional in their lives. They’re simply avoiding making a commitment to what they want. Instead of being deliberate in their choices, they’re taking the path of least resistance. Not making a decision on your direction is a decision in itself. It’s true that, “Life is a journey, not a destination,” but if you let life push you along, you’re just along for the ride. The Law of Attraction will simply act on your former beliefs. If this is the case, then you could end up in a place you don’t want to be.

An Intentional Goal

A goal is an object or result that you are seeking to achieve, usually to improve your life. It’s something that you intend to attain. You have your goal in mind (intention), and then must put effort into accomplishing it. Goals are either set consciously or unconsciously. When you consciously establish a goal, and then take actions towards it, you become intentional.

A goal is a step on the way to a vision, which is the long term destination. Not only do most people not create goals, but only about 10% of the population writes them down. And only 5% of people are intentional enough to keep track of them and read them daily. Most people lose their way as they pay attention to what they need to address on a day to day basis and forget about their goals.

To be intentional with your goals, follow these steps:

1. Consider what it is you want in your life.
Don’t accept what you’ve always had, but decide what you want your life to look and feel like, including why you want it. This is your long term destination or vision and gives the Law of Attraction a mold to fill.

2. Establish what your goals are going to be. Make these steps specific and measureable. This allows you to keep track of your progress and determine if you’re on course or need to adjust them. The Law of Attraction needs to know what else you need to be successful.

3. Read your goals every day. Update them as needed. This keeps your attention on your direction, so you stay on course. It also triggers the subconscious and the Law of Attraction to be on alert for anything that might help you along the way.

4. Take some small action every day. The subconscious and the Law of Attraction responds to your commitment to moving forward. As you create a habit of action, your subconscious builds up momentum and makes your way easier. The Law of Attraction draws unexpected opportunities to you.

Each of these steps is intentional and deliberate. You choose your course and then determine to carry out your goals. It doesn’t mean that your goals are set in stone. Being intentional also means you stay aware of when your needs or wants change. Do this and you’ll be living a life of purpose, on purpose. When you do, you are much more connected with the Universe, your life, happiness and a feeling of fulfillment.

Affirmation:
The Universe wants me to have the best that It has to offer. It’s up to me to decide how much of that I’m willing to accept. The best way to do that is to set specific goals and follow through on them. This shows the Universe and the Law of Attraction that I’m willing to accept my goal, or something greater.

Sparks of Insight“When there is a conflict between the will and the imagination, the imagination always wins.” – William James

When you consciously want one thing, but keep imagining it opposite, then what you visualize will be what manifests, for the imagination also includes the emotions. Let’s say you want more prosperity, but all that fills your mind is the fear that you won’t be able to pay your bills. You dwell (imagination) on your fear, and that’s what gets the attention of your subconscious. Not what you consciously saying you want. Get the two of them in sync, and watch the miracles.

Don’t Let Fear Sabotage Your Success

Article  Comments Off on Don’t Let Fear Sabotage Your Success

Success Signpost

Are you afraid of success? That may seem like a ridiculous question, because most people consciously want success in their endeavors. But being successful can bring change, and some people may not be ready for all that means. When they get close to success, they back away from or sabotage it.

For instance, they turn down an opportunity, justifying it by saying, “It just wasn’t right.” Or they resist or procrastinate taking action that could take them to the next level. They don’t make the phone call or follow up on a lead that could bring them a sale. By default, they stay with what they know, even if it’s uncomfortable. The idea of success stirs up fears that prevent them from moving forward.

What you focus on grows, including fear. The Law of Attraction, instructed by what you’re paying attention to, will attract more of what you don’t want. If you’re feeling inadequate, and that’s why you fear success, the Law of Attraction will draw more opportunities for you to feel that way.

Becoming aware of what you’re doing is the first step to remedying the situation. The next step is to understand what specific fear is prompting your resistance. Only then can you overcome it, recognizing it for the falsehood it is. Here are some of the reasons that could be at the core of your fear of success.

1. Fear of visibility. You avoid calling attention to yourself because of past rejection. For you, appreciation or acknowledgement would be uncomfortable and even threatening. But isn’t being able to share your gifts more important than staying safely hidden in the shadows?

2. Fear of criticism. There’s a difference between criticism and feedback. Criticism has a mean-spirited component to it. It’s never pleasant and chips away at your self-confidence. Whether you succeed or fail, it’s going to attract disapproval from someone. Why not do what you want and deal with the censure on your terms?

3. Fear the envy of others. This is very similar to the fear of criticism. Jealous people will try to belittle you to build up their egos. Generally, their jealousy isn’t about you. It’s more about the person who is trying to tear you down. Holding yourself back isn’t going to help them feel better. You might as well let yourself shine.

4. Fear of the responsibility. Greater success brings greater responsibility, and that can be scary. You may feel that you aren’t capable of handling these extra demands. But as more responsibility comes to you, you grow to meet the challenge. Think of it like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it becomes.

5. Fear you’re not ready.
You may feel you don’t have the skills or competency for the next step. If you wait until you feel ready, your time may never come. There’s always going to be something else to learn or ability to develop. As long as you’re willing to improve your knowledge, you’ll grow into your success.

6. Fear of disappointment.
You have an image of what success would look or feel like. Is it better to keep it as a dream rather than risk it not living up to your expectations? If it doesn’t, you’ll still have gained so much more than you have now. You’ll have learned how to achieve that success, and apply it to a new dream.

7. Fear of what else could change in your life. You may be concerned about how much time you’ll have to devote to your success. Or uneasy that your lifestyle might be turned upside down. You will have to let go of mental and physical habits that have outlived their usefulness. But you’ll still be in control of your choices. If you don’t like what has changed, you can always make different decisions.

All these fears bring old ideas about yourself to the surface, such as unworthiness, incompetence, or incapability. Being successful would mean that these concepts are false, and you’d have to shift your self-image. This is a massive change in itself. That could be the core of all the anxiety you experience. The Universe believes in you and created you to be successful.

Once you have identified what you’re specifically afraid of, it no longer controls you. You can take measures to overcome the fear. Refuse to allow it to hold you back any longer. Forge ahead and claim the success that’s always been waiting for you.

AFFIRMATION:
The Universe believes in me and created me to be successful. I believe in myself and my capabilities. Infinite Intelligence will guide and direct me, bringing me whatever I need to be successful. With the help of the Universe, I can handle whatever comes up. I am now ready to let go of my fears and accept the help and the confidence of the Universe.

Sparks of Insight“I set my intention for my desire, knowing that if I can conceive it, I can achieve it through the Power of my Higher Mind. I now take action, moving in the direction of my goal.”

What is it you want in your life? More abundance, better health, improved relationships, a greater joy and harmony? The thought of it is an impulse from your Higher Self wanting to express Itself in a greater fashion through you. Believe you can have it, take any actions that you can think of, and the Universe will begin to draw what you need into your orbit.

Are You Living on Autopilot?

Article  Comments Off on Are You Living on Autopilot?

Plane flying towards sun

In an aircraft, the autopilot is a tool to assist the plane to stay on course, allowing the pilot to attend to other things. The autopilot guides the plane based on information it receives from other systems. Unfortunately, those systems aren’t perfect and accumulate errors over time, and course corrections will need to be made. The same thing is true of your life.

How many times do you lay your keys or glasses down and then don’t remember where they are? Do you ever eat a cookie without remembering doing it, but find crumbs on your hand later? Your mind was on other things while your body acted automatically. What about your relationships? Do you expect they will to continue to grow without tending them?

Before cellphones, I had a boyfriend who put me near the bottom of his list of priorities. Everything in his life came before his agreements with me. If he’d promised to meet me at a restaurant, but a neighbor dropped in for coffee, he’d leave me waiting for hours. He put our relationship on autopilot, and ignored my warnings that it was going off course. Eventually, he flew the relationship into the ground.

If you’re not paying attention, or just going through the motions, this can happen in any area of your life. At work, if you aren’t making any progress, it may be because you’re dealing with what’s immediate, and not what’s important. All your energy is going into being reactive and not proactive or intentional. You aren’t assessing to see if you’ve gotten off track and how you need to shift your priorities to meet your goals.

You Program Your Autopilot

Habits are a form of autopilot. By repeatedly performing a certain action or thinking a particular thought, it develops into an unconscious routine. It operates below your conscious awareness to fulfill its original purpose. Habits are valuable and useful, until they’re not. If you don’t notice when they’re no longer helpful, they will take your life into a vast wasteland.

You can’t live your entire life being aware of every single thought and action. It would use up too much mental and physical energy. That’s what your subconscious mind is for. You program it with your thoughts, beliefs, and what’s most important to you. The Law of Attraction works through your subconscious mind, drawing to you circumstances that will fit your strongest thoughts. And it [your subconscious and the Law of Attraction] works like an autopilot. It They helps keep you on the course that you’ve set by using habits.

Your conscious mind, which is rational, decides on your destination and actions. When it performs its job, it makes decisions that keep you on course. It also makes sure you stay aware of changing conditions in the environment and events. If it notices you’re getting off track, it makes adjustments. The key is that it has to periodically check in to assess if you’re going in the right direction.

When you’re living on autopilot, you’re blocking the flow of Divine inspiration and guidance. It can’t cut through your preoccupation. And you’re not giving the Law of Attraction any intentional direction, so it just gives you more of what you’re paying attention to.

How to Determine If You’re on Autopilot

Life gives you signals that you’re living on autopilot. You could be dealing with some of these issues:

  • What you’re doing isn’t taking you where you want to go.
  • Your habits or beliefs are in direct opposition to your goals.
  • You’re following someone else’s dream or instruction, and it’s making you miserable.
  • You say “Yes” to things when you really want to say, “No.”
  • You can’t remember anything that you’ve accomplished at the end of the day.
  • Your relationships chronically fall apart.
  • You know you’re sabotaging yourself and can feel it in your gut.

If you’ve experienced any of these, it’s time to take a step back, consider the situation and change course. You’ll have to make different decisions than the ones you’ve made and follow through on them. This means you’ll have to pay attention to what you’re doing so you can change the bad habits that have developed and make new ones.

An autopilot is a tool to help a pilot. But you can’t just set it and forget it, any more than you can your subconscious or the Law of Attraction. To stay on course, you need to monitor it and periodically make course corrections. That’s when the conscious mind comes into play. It sets your subconscious autopilot so it can take care of more important things. But every so often, your conscious mind needs to check in and see if you’re on track. It’s better to find out that you’re off course sooner than later, because it’s easier to change.

Affirmation:

The Universe supports all of my endeavors and approves of my choices. It guides and directs all of my decisions. I take charge of my thinking and my life. When I establish a goal or desire, I pay attention to whether I’m moving in that direction. I give the Law of Attraction intentional direction. If I need to make changes, I do so quickly.

Key Elements for Your Success

Having your heart and vision aligned are vital for the success of any venture, whether personal or professional. But they is another key element that you need to be able to propel yourself forward. It’s one that is key for your success and it includes other aspects. Linda-Ann Stewart, vision strategist, will share what this element is and give you some ideas on how to cultivate it in your life.

Transcript:
Thank you for joining me. I’m Linda-Ann Stewart, a vision strategist. Do you wonder what that is? Well, I help people take their vision and focus on the strategies that will bring it into a reality. I’d like to talk about what elements you need to have in place to be successful. The first part of is that you need to align your heart with your vision. From there you create a plan, or strategies, and then focus on them.

When I talk about the heart, I mean passion and beliefs, mindset. What about you? Do you have a passion for your next step? Do you have any beliefs that contradict it? Your passion and beliefs have to be aligned with your vision, which is your intention and direction you want to go in.

Your vision is why you want to achieve your goals, and what you eventually hope to achieve. What about you? What’s your vision? When your heart and vision are supporting each other, the plan, which is the steps, strategies and tactics to take, is easy to develop. Natural progression. Heart, vision and plan form the foundation of any endeavor, whether personal or professional.

In my hypnotherapy practice, these were the first things my clients and I had to decide on before we start making changes in their lives, whether for stress reduction, stopping smoking, weight management, improving self-esteem, success programming or anything else. Without the foundation to build on, my clients would have failed to achieve their goals.

The next step was equally important. It’s what programmed them for success. It was focusing on the strategies and taking the actions that the plan dictated. Many people pay attention to details or tactics that don’t really help them in the long run. But they feel like they’re getting things done, even though they’re really just in motion. Do you ever feel that?

You can run on a treadmill, but you’ll never actually get anywhere, will you? If you’re running in place, you have to step back off that treadmill and assess if the actions you’re taking are allowing you to make progress.

When you’re not focused, you can easily become scattered, sidetracked and distracted. You don’t want to always be chasing after squirrels, do you? So focus also means to have your priorities straight. You decide what comes first then next, then next after that. You wouldn’t try to scramble eggs before you got a pan onto the stove, would you? If you did, you’d have a real mess, right? Same goes with priorities.

And you have to make sure you spend time on your priorities, and not let someone else dictate what they are. For instance, suppose you’d planned to spend the evening paying bills that were due, but a friend stopped by at the last minute and wanted you to go to a movie with them. If you agree, wouldn’t you have let their priority be more important than yours?

I know paying bills isn’t a fun job, but it was your priority and necessary to avoid late fees. If you didn’t get it done when you’d originally planned, it had to be done another time, when you might have had something else planned.

This can also happen if you don’t have any priorities at all. Then you leave the door open for someone else to decide what your priorities should be. And who wants that?

Having a focus means you also cultivate the behaviors, habits and skills you need. Maybe you need to stop procrastinating paying those bills until the last minute? Or you might want to develop the habit of scheduling social time with friends? Maybe you want to learn more about social media? All of these also take focus and attention, and help take you in the direction of your vision.

Focus is what keeps you on track and progressing. In addition to having heart, vision, and a plan, focus propels you to success. Are you lacking focus in an area? Are your priorities in order? Are you following your priorities? Do you need to establish a new habit or develop a new skill to take the next step? Take just one of these, and begin to act on it. Establish it as a priority and notice how you start making progress.

If you’d like some help in achieving your goals, apply for a complimentary Clarify Your Vision coaching consultation.

Thank you for watching. And I would love to know how you’re focusing on your goal. Take care.
