Hand holding seedlingI try to keep my postings apolitical, because I respect everyone’s choice. But I’m concerned about the increased incidence of overt bullying, verbal and racist attacks that have been taking place in the U.S. since the beginning of this presidential election cycle.

These issues have been in the shadows (barely) for a long time, but now some people feel encouraged to act out in hateful ways. These problems have always bothered me, and now I see them becoming more common. Unfortunately, there have also been protesters against the election results who have acted in ways similar to the very ideas they stand against.

I believe that now that the bigotry and hate are out in the open, they can be addressed by standing up against them. Only when we stand back and keep silent can they thrive. In the past 50 years, we’ve made great progress against prejudice and bullying. We can continue that progress if we choose to be part of the solution and stand up to the problem. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

If you encounter someone being harassed, there’s a great cartoon that explains how to respond. This is one way you can help. The cartoon was designed to assist against Islamaphobic harassment, but it can be used in any situation. It’s based on a psychological technique and is very effective. Like myself, many of you have seen the movie, “What The Bleep Do We Know?” If you found this movie to be as mind altering as I did, then you’ll find “The Holographic Universe” to be equally amazing.

This book goes into great detail to explain and show that we all create our own reality, and that we have the ability to create any reality that we want. Do you want to develop psychic abilities, improve your health or have more wealth? Then read this book.

Mr. Talbot tells how the universe is like a giant hologram, and that matter and consciousness work together to create and alter that hologram. He backs up his statements with fascinating information from various studies done by scientist from around the world.

When I started reading this book I couldn’t go through it fast enough. It answered questions about life and the universe that I’d had for years by combining what sounded like fanciful New Age ideas with hard scientific fact. Merging these seemingly opposite ideas created a unified explanation of existence that showed that the universe is indeed our playground.

So if you’re looking for an explanation of how the universe works, and where you fit into it, then read “The Holographic Universe.” Open yourself to its ideas and it will truly change your life for the better.

Question MarkQuestion: I’ve been affirming to improve a situation, but nothing has changed. What else can I do?

Answer: Review how you’re using the affirmation. As we use affirmations, we may start repeating them by rote, without thinking about what they mean, and because we do, they lose their punch. Remember that an affirmation only changes your mind about the situation, to accept more good in that area. And they have to be said with emotion and belief that they’re actually manifesting.

If we say the affirmation, but negate it during the day, or we say it and feel that it’s not working, then the subconscious mind will manifest our accumulated feeling about the situation. So make sure that your feelings that it’s being done are in alignment with the affirmation.

Also, a problem can’t be healed from the consciousness that created it or is experiencing the problem. You need to be able to raise your awareness above or beyond the level of the challenge to imagine the solution, or at least imagine that there is a resolution available. If you’re still thinking of the problem as you say the affirmation, or feeling the tension it creates, then that will block any positive change. Affirm and think of it from the position of the answer or resolution.

This is a wonderful little primer on meditation. In simple, easy to understand language, it covers all aspects of meditation, and clarifies some misunderstandings. This book also covers some of the benefits of meditation, including developing your intuition, healing, and becoming more in tune with the Infinite.

Many books on meditation scare off the beginner by asserting that there’s only one way to practice or stating that you have to keep your mind quiet. There are many different methods to practice meditation, and this book gives directions on how to do many of them. The authors also explain that keeping the mind one-pointed is the goal of a type of meditation, but that it takes much training to achieve.

Whether you’re a beginner to meditation, or someone who needs to rejuvenate your practice with something new, this book will give you guidance and inspiration.
