Sparks of InsightDo you feel that becoming more positive is overwhelming? You have to stay aware and alert of everything you’re thinking and saying, and be able to look on the bright side of things. Optimists aren’t born, they’re programmed. You don’t have to change your whole way of thinking at one time. An easier way to do it is to chip away at it. Develop optimism on one subject at a time. Pick an area that is fairly easy for you to be positive about, something that you’re relatively confident in, such as cooking, or making phone calls, or your hair. Stay aware of what you think of that area, changing any negative comments to positive ones. Once you’ve made that a habit, add another, more difficult area and build from there.

Sparks of Insight“No part of my mind is affected by others’ negativity. I remain connected with my True Self. I recognize that they have their own issues, and those problems have nothing to do with me. ”

So many times, you’re influenced by other people’s negative moods. It can be hard not to be, and it’s tempting to try to change them so that you feel better. But they have a right to feel bad, and they have to learn how to work their way through it for themselves. It’s their issue, not yours. Many times, trying to change their mind will just make the problem last longer or get worse. Detach from it (and them, if you need to), let them have their mood, and don’t let yourself get caught up in it.

Sparks of InsightWhat are you doing to show yourself that you matter? Are you indulging yourself with self-pity, not standing up for yourself, eating too much, indulging in unhealthy substances, etc.? Or are you making sure you get enough sleep, exercise, eat properly, socialize with people who treat you well? If you don’t care for yourself, why would anyone else? Life treats you the way that you treat yourself. Take steps that show you that your health, well-being and peace of mind is important. Only when you treat yourself as if you count will Life reflect that attitude.

Sparks of Insight“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” – Thomas Jefferson

A person can work like crazy to get ahead, have great ideas, great connections, and great opportunities, but still fail. Usually, it’s due to a negative, self-defeating attitude. Through either early training or hard knocks, they believe that nothing they do is going to succeed. Therefore, it doesn’t. They can’t contradict their expectations. Studies have shown that a person with a positive outlook will go farther and achieve more. An optimistic person seems to not only attract more opportunities, but they seem to know better how to make them pay off. And the good news is that optimists aren’t born, they’re created. With some work, you can have a better mental attitude and become an optimist.

Sparks of InsightIn the New Testament, Jesus told a parable about a farmer sowing seeds. Some fell on hard ground and were eaten by the birds. Still others fell on rocky soil and sprouted, but didn’t have enough soil or water to grow, and therefore died. Some fell on ground that was choked with weeds, and were able to begin to grow. But the weeds choked the life out of them. However, some fell on rich, deep soil, sprouted, were watered, and grew into plants that produced many more seeds.

These seeds are like your thoughts. Some fall on ground that is too hard to accept anything new and are eaten by those who wish us to fail. Other thoughts begin to sprout, but there’s not enough positive nourishment to allow them to expand. Still more fall into thought patterns that are choked with negativity and old ideas, and the life is choked out of the ideas. But when you’ve prepared your mind, through actions, positive focusing, and affirmations, the seeds that are sown into that ground find welcome. They are able to germinate, sprout and grow, and bring much more good into your life.

Sparks of Insight“God knows my needs before I can express them. My needs are now met by the One Life within me. I open my mind to receive only good.”

You have legitimate needs and the Universe knows what they are. Whether it’s for better health, more harmony, prosperity, or peace of mind, when you begin to realize that they’re acceptable and focus on them being fulfilled, then Infinite good can begin to flow through you. But you have to claim that they’re being addressed. As long as you’re continuing to focus on the lack of something, that’s what you’ll receive.

Sparks of InsightWhat would you be doing if success were inevitable? How would you be leading your life? What would change? Consider what thoughts you’d be thinking, actions you’d be taking, and ways you’d be acting if your dreams were assured. I don’t mean that you should go out and buy a Mercedes if your current income is at the Honda Civic level, but how would you feel about your car? Before there can be a significant improvement in your life, you have to act and think the part first.

Sparks of Insight“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”
– Aristotle

When we first create a habit, we have to be conscious about it. Remember when you first learned to ride a bicycle or drive? You had to think through every movement, every action. Eventually, they became natural and it would be difficult to change the order. By repeating a thought or action, it becomes a habit. Therefore, failure can be a habit, just as success can be. What are you repeatedly doing that doesn’t move you forward to your goals?

Sparks of InsightDo you remember your mom telling you that “If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything?” There’s a valid reason behind that sage bit of advice. If you criticize, find fault, or complain, then that’s where your attention is going. Just where you don’t want it to. So you get more to complain about. When you want to say something, bless a difficult situation or person, use an affirmation, or say nothing. This will begin to turn your attention to the more positive aspects of life, which brings more good to you.

Sparks of Insight“The Divine Presence within me is now at work in the challenge that I’m now encountering. I’m guided in the right ways to solve it for my Highest Good. I experience only Divine Right action in all areas of my life. ”

When you get into the middle of a challenge, it’s hard to remember that the Universe is still at work. By opening yourself to guidance, you’ll find solutions you never would have thought of. You’re always being guided, you just probably don’t notice it. That’s why it’s called the “still, small voice.” You have to tune your inner ear to it.
