When you get under stress, the subconscious mind uses its resources to deal with the more immediate problems. Many times, it will abandon any new changes so it can handle the priority. It will also go back to more familiar coping strategies, to free its energy for the immediate issue. That’s why, under stress, a person will fall off their diet, return to smoking or an old thought pattern. Knowing this, you can prepare a plan to use to stay on track when you’re under stress. Stress comes and goes, but your life goes on.
